I have been meaning to post, and even had wordpress open a few times with a cursor just blinking at me.
Building on my last post, my camera has pretty much been coming with me everywhere I go, and that has been a good thing.
So a quick recap in reverse order
Just got back from San Jose California to visit my newest nephew, Oliver and his parents my brother and sister in law, Sharon and Rodrigo. Got out to Los Gatos Park to get some great family photos. I haven’t had a chance to edit them on my computer yet. Rodrigo might have some up on flickr already.
Wednesday and Thursday I was invited to shoot a Clean Energy Summit put together by the Austin Technology Incubator. I enjoy taking a photojournalist approach to events like these. For the standing on the podium shot, I try to execute what flashflavor.com once said, “win with exciting light”. My strobes were firing from across the rooom, and I moved to get different effects in the light.
My new toys – Orbis Ring Flash and Lastolite Softbox – have been awesome to work with. Maybe I overpaid, maybe I didn’t, all I know is, these products come to work and work as advertised they do. I utilized them in a few shoots recently, and can’t imagine working with out them now.
Looking forward to utilizing these new tools more and refining my approach with them.
