Rachael and Kevin, Take 3 – Day After Shoot

November 24, 2015 by Andrew Fritz

Sometimes the world conspires against you, or it seems that way…

Rachael and Kevin - Day After Session - 13

Rachael wanted a bridal shoot before her wedding and we scheduled one for the week before the wedding right after the dress would be done. That morning we had to cancel. The area got 10 inches of rain and there was widespread flooding and road closures.

Flash forward to October. The wedding is over and the wedding photos are long done (including some epic weather on their wedding day too). We regrouped and tried again in the cooling fall weather only to have the second major rain event of the year happen that day… More flooding and road closures. Scratch attempt 2.

Attempt number 3, and this time we missed the rain by a day and had beautiful weather. As a bonus, Kevin tagged along and we turned the shoot into a “day after” couples shoot and had a lot of fun. We started off at Rabb House in Round Rock and then used the open skies at Old Settlers Park for some night sky shots.

Nick: Pflugerville Senior Style Session

May 15, 2013 by Josh Baker

In true Pflugerville fashion we met Nick because his mother and my wife teach together. Love living in our small town with big city access. Anyhow our session was intended to just be casual photos around Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. Nick is a pretty chill guy so we played this loose and laconic. While talking during the first setup it came out that he also longboarded, and yes, do you have it with you? No, but his dad wasn’t faraway. In the meantime don’t joke about hanging from a tree or we will call your bluff!

Once the longboard arrived, Nick changed to the laid back outfit and we tried to capture the feel and vibe of longboarding. We had decent light and played with action, slow shutters and fisheyes all in the parking lot of the Dell Diamond. I knew I also wanted some different looks so we pulled out the lensbaby for the black and white where we blurred out the leading lines. And then the final image was my favorite of the day! Setting sun and a very gridded parabolic reflector from way above for the dramatic look.

You just never know the direction a session will take and we try to be ready for the ebbs and flows. The flow of the longboard led to the last image and I bet it is your favorite right?

Josh loves a good adventure and some of his favorite wedding and engagement shoots have involved “getting crazy” or going somewhere special to the couple.

Josh is a Texas native and long time Pflugerville resident. He started his photography business in 2009 and has never looked back. His photo business even allowed him to be daddy-day-care before his two sons reached school age. Over the years his business has expanded to include just about every type of photography including automotive, editorial portraits, corporate events, sports and food. Through it all, he has continued to love wedding photography for genuine moment, the fast pace and the diversity of subjects it offers. Josh is a co-founder of North Austin Pfoutographic Society and a resident instructor at Precision Camera & Video in Austin, Tx.

Scotty Mac & Casey Jo: Engagements

April 10, 2013 by Josh Baker

We say this all the time, but we really love our clients and all of their quirkiness! This pair have a few special talents that deserved a little attention. Scotty Mac is an elite runner for Rogue Athletic Club and Casey Jo is a collegiate gymnastic coach, so yeah both can do things that normal can’t. Scroll down the page a bit and see Scotty Mac doing his steeplechase hurdle over Casey Jo’s scorpion hold handstand. Just wow right?

The other thing we should note is that they have a silly silly sense of humor and are totally on the same wavelength. We will put up facebook the zombie kisses, Monkee walk and dual handstands to show how off-beat from the world they are but in tune with each other.

And lastly, the bright red Volkswagen Vanagon? How could we forget that! Scotty had it nice and polished up for the session and revved it up to make the central Austin to Pflugerville drive in just under 4 hours. Yes, he could have ran faster but this way he did it in style.

So which photograph is everyone’s favorite?
