Headed down to Seguin on Wednesday to meet up with Sharon and Chris. They have this great house just outside of Seguin. Nice wrap around porch, fresh hay bales, a creek, and apparently coyotes!
We were trying to get some nice photos for them to use as prints for their house and new profile pictures for Facebook and the like. Luckily they played along well with my whimsy, hopefully no one has gangrene, or what ever one gets from rusty farm equipment. I think we also managed to escape all fire ant bites too. I was worried when I was rolling around in the field of cow mud.
My first intention was to get some nice photos around the wrap around porch. A little tough because the sun was still a little bright in the good background area. So we just came back to it later when the ambient was cooler.
Then we ventured out to the hay bales for some good texturey/farmer shots. We faked some warm sunset light with orange gels, and just used the sun for rimlighting. My favorite of this series has a nice layered approach with the hay as foreground, Chris and Sharon in the middle, and then their House in the background. I am not sure if I like the lens flare in the image though.
At this point we went out into the middle of their cow pasture to play with rusty farm equipment, and shafts of lights. I should have not been shooting straight into the sun, but the equipment was too big to move.
We then rolled back to the house to get the sunset porch shots I wanted from the beginning. The only challenge was their dogs don’t like me very much. at all.
So all in all we had a fun time, Hope you guys enjoy the pictures.
Shooting the Rogue Water Stop at the Moonlight Run tonight, and then more Family pictures this weekend.
