Union on 8th in Georgetown

Danny and Caitlin’s Downtown Georgetown Halloween Engagement

October 29, 2018 by Andrew Fritz

Danny and Cat’s downtown Georgetown Halloween engagement is a great example to what Georgetown has to offer.  I had a hard time picking which engagement photos to include in this blog. There were a lot of favorites. The couple were bursting with great energy, and it showed in their photos.  They lucked out this evening with a spectacular sunset, with amazing colors and the perfect amount of clouds.

The Old Church

Danny and Cat own (and started) Sincerely Yours 1848 (SY48) just off the Georgetown square. It’s a cute boutique shop with unique clothes and gifts. Immediately next door is one of Preservation Georgetown’s Grace Heritage Center, housed in he historic Grace Episcopal Church.

The historic church is right in the middle of downtown Georgetown, surrounded by buildings and cars. With a little judicious use of shooting angle and lens selection I kept out those distractions.

Our second stop was the front wall of Union on 8th. Union on 8th is an old automotive garage turned wedding venue. We’ve shot weddings there before and the inside is funky and cool. Today we just made use of their distressed blue doors and cool metal wall.

VFW Park

We strolled though the old residential district near downtown (stopping to take a few photos along the way) and eventually ended up at VFW park along the San Gabriel river. It provided wide open skies to take advantage of the glowing orange sunset.

Monument Cafe

After sunset at the park we strolled back towards the Georgetown square and made a stop at the historic Monument Cafe. It’s a super cool art deco style building with in neon lights and a nice beer garden seating area.

Georgetown Halloween Engagement – The Murder of a Pumpkin

Danny and Cat told me that Halloween was their favorite holiday so we ended up in the back courtyard of their shop with a selection of victims. They went to work and I photographed.

It was a fun evening strolling around the streets of Georgetown, lined with historic buildings in the cool autumn evening air.

Rebekah and Memo: Union on 8th Wedding Trailer

July 10, 2017 by Stacy Wells

Union on 8th Wedding Trailer

Rebekah and Memo’s Union on 8th Wedding Trailer, brings a smile to our faces! We first met this lovely couple for their engagement session, and we had a blast. We expected nothing less from this charismatic duo on their Wedding Day.  We began downtown at the historic courthouse for the ceremony.  The couple was then led into Union on 8th for the reception,  located just 20 miles north of Downtown Austin.  With the “Keep Austin Weird” vibe, it was the perfect venue.

Union on 8th is a super cool venue just off of Georgetown’s old time square. It started life as an automotive repair shop and that texture shows through. The interior is perfect for small to medium weddings with cool old wooden ceiling joists and floor to ceiling glass doors overlooking the intimate courtyard. There is even a classic Airstream trailer that makes a nice get away location for the couple during the reception.

Michelle & Todd: Union on Eighth Wedding in Georgetown

January 5, 2015 by Josh Baker

Union on 8th Wedding -2

What a way to close out 2014! I know it seems like we posted only the pictures of Michelle and Todd smiling, happy and looking lovingly at each other, but all 2000 photos are like this! As always we believe that weddings are a day of firsts, first kiss, first look, first night as a married couple. Here are some of the firsts we observed at this last wedding of 2014.

First reception we have seen where an octogenarian led the dance floor. I believe she is 83 and she had more fun than just about anyone. I hope to dance with that much enthusiasm when I am 38 in two years! This was also the first wedding where Andrew tested out his tintype process. There will be more advancements in this process as it grows and changes materials but we think it’s a cool analog memento of the wedding day. The other big first was this was our first time photographing at the super cool Union on 8th wedding venue. I remember seeing the building as a mechanic’s garage 4 years ago on a photowalk and thinking it would be an interesting place to photograph, now with the renovations and the conversion to an event venue, wow, a newly refurbished place with an old vibe. Love it.

As always thanks to 11:11 Events for planning and coordinating, you make our days easy.

Big group hug to Michelle & Todd on their nuptials. We loved being there to document your wedding day (and your awesome engagements) and we love the way yall laugh with each other. Keep on laughing
