Daniel and Stephanie: Memory Lane Event Center Wedding in Dripping Springs

Epic Frist Look Portrait, Wedding, Memory Lane, Dripping Springs

Stephanie and Daniel got married on a uncharacteristically warm (like high 80s) November day at the lovely Memory Lane Event Center in Dripping Springs, Texas. After a blue sky first look and ceremony the reception kicked off with a treat. They had a live band: Plush Party Band with some sing along (turns out Daniel can sing) and crowd surfing. Of course, if you don’t like the weather in Texas, just wait a few minutes. By their sparkler exit, the temp had dropped into the 40s which made for a cozy exit.

You may remember Daniel and Stephanie from their Kyle Texas Engagement.

Abby & James: Wedding at Boulder Springs, New Braunfels

AbbyBlogResized-4

Abby & James were married at Boulder Springs outside New Braunfels, Texas. The heat of the day didn’t slow down the dancing, the fun or the merriment. A detail filled reception hall was put together with a rustic antler motif, there was even a salsa bar! There were just a ton of little touches that reflected the couples decisions and commitment to each other. And then the father-daughter and mother-son dances happened and the flood gates of tears opened up. Just a touching evening all around.

Julie & Garrett: Hotel Alsace Wedding

CareBearFormalFinal-1Social

Care Bear Attack! Because really, what is scarier than Share Bear coming after the wedding party to rain down hugs and warmth. Garrett is a bit of prankster and wanted to have dinosaur’s or king kong chasing the bridal party. We had to raise his joke one more level and go full Ghostbuster style in photoshopping in the Care Bears.

Julie, Garrett and their families went over the top DIY on the decor for the wedding, even going as far as making polished wood stands for the floral vases. Friends and family came and pitched in to help setup and break down the venue as fast as any wedding we have seen. Warmed our heart to see the social fabric wrapped so tight around Julie & Garrett.

Thanks to the Hotel Alsace for hosting us on a great fall Saturday.

Angela & Arron: Vista on Seward Hill Wedding

AngelaArronSocial-3

Fun Fun Fun Fest happened this past weekend in Austin, but I don’t think anyone had more fun fun fun than Angela & Arron at their wedding. Every photo we took had either Angela smiling, Arron laughing, Angela making a silly face or Arron trying to make Angela laugh some more. Just infectious laughter throughout the evening. Seriouly, watch the trailer we made for their wedding film and try to find a face that isn’t one step from hypoxic laughter.

AJ & Jennifer: Waco Wedding

We are so thrilled to be sharing the first true Waco Wedding we have covered with both stills and motion. AJ & Jennifer are the happy couple that are the stars of this show from the Phoenix Ballroom. The day contained many firsts for us not the least of which is that Jennifer is an adventuresome bride and climbed into the wrestling ring outside her hotel. She felled all comers to take the Champion Belt, quite a feat in a wedding dress. Certainly our first wrestling champ bride. The second first is a raise the shoe game that I have never seen before. Kind of like the Dating Game but with better sartorial choices.

The final first is hard to put into words, but the brother of the bride came out in a dress for the dollar dance and proceeded to reenact the dance scene from Dirty Dancing with the best man. The dollars went to not dance with him!

We had a great time in Waco, let’s do it again sometime.

Make sure and watch the wedding trailer below, leave a happy comment for AJ & Jennifer!

Britt & Kristina: Burnet Engagement Portraits

BrittKristinaSocial-3

Britt & Kristina have a love of water, and in planning their engagement portraits we discussed a few options but settled on one of our favorite locations, Reveille Peak Ranch in Burnet, Texas. The team there is fantastic, good people. Anyhow, our first setup involved Britt & Kristina on a pier. Josh being the adventuresome sort knew that the right angle required him to be a few feet in the water, and after 3 steps, he was in the water, up to his neck. College beer skills saved his favorite camera from taking a drink.
20150927_171630

Once the normal photoshoot tension was shattered, we rollicked through three outfit and light changes around the lake at Reveille Peak. The other super cool location was on the back side of the dam where the overflowing water has revealed the pink granite. This was a tough part to shoot, happy with what we got, but already looking forward to getting more from this wave location.

Britt mentioned that he was a photography minor in college, so now we have to plan something outrageous for their wedding. Leave any crazy suggestions in the comments.

Sarah & Cliff: Bentwood Texas Wedding in Georgetown

SarahSocial-4

Clanging tin cans, barefoot bride, confetti exit, fuzzy KEDS. Sarah & Cliff’s Bentwood wedding in Georgetown, Texas provided all of those and more love and hugs than you might think possible. The bride’s father almost made it through his speech without breaking down, almost. The guests rang the kissing cans anytime Sarah & Cliff were more than 15 feet apart. And we made good use of the flowing San Gabriel River and the old pickup in front of the venue for our hero images.

Congratulations to Sarah & Cliff as they journey to Philadelphia for a few years for Cliff’s residency.

Hannah & Charlie: Lone Oak Barn Wedding in Round Rock

StrebeSocial-1

Our first wedding from the fabulous Lone Oak Barn features Hannah & Charlie, who y’all might remember from the their fire station engagement session. Charlie took the reception time to bring out his guitar and sing to the crowd and to his new bride with a few acoustic numbers. Hannah and her sorority sisters from Texas A&M swayed to a little Hullabaloo. The guests enjoyed a lovely Texas spring evening with a good breeze blowing.

Thanks to the Aday family at Lone Oak for being exceptional hosts and we look forward to being out there again in September!

Kevin and Rachael: TerrAdorna Sunset Wedding in Manor

Kevin and Rachael - TerrAdorna Wedding - Manor Tx -042

Austin area weather has been difficult of late, but sometimes that works in your favor. Rachael and Kevin planned to have their wedding on TerrAdorna’s wonderful new patio. A good plan and as it turned out the line of thunderstorms was timed perfectly, arriving just after the ceremony and ending in time for one of the most spectacular sunsets that Josh or I have ever seen. The sunset just kept going and going. Add a great wedding crowd, a double rainbow and a ton of other fun stuff, and it was all around a great event.

We’ve been looking forward to photographing a real wedding at TerrAdorna, and the venue did not disappoint.

Richie & Lindsay: Wedding at The Mansion in Austin, Texas

RichieSocial-1

Our team was transported in time for Richie & Lindsay’s wedding at the timeless Mansion/Federation of Women’s Clubs. Between the classic Chuck Taylor’s on the Bride to the barbershop quartet of Richie & The Groomsmen (yes, I have dubbed them so) to the amazing reception entrance with the bride and groom serenading each other like something out of West Side Story, we had to feel our smartphones in our pockets to remind ourselves that the year was in fact 2015 and not 1955.

Thanks to Richie & Lindsay for having us there to capture their singin’ & dancin’ shenanigans, the faces of the crowd told the story of the love you share with each other. Also, sparkler exits are scary!

Shannon & Ryan: Meridian Engagement

ShannonMSocial-8

ShannonMSocial-9

A jeep, a faithful dog, a quiet place on the river. Shannon & Ryan’s engagement session is about as idyllic as can be imagined. We trekked up to the thriving metropolis of Meridian, Texas to photograph the happy couple. The field of tall grass with the lone tree near the center was enough to photograph on it’s own. The sun was coming in low over the horizon and Buck the Dog was happily jumping and pouncing in and out of the camera’s view. The day ended at sunset at a hunter’s retreat a few minutes down the road. We photographed until we could see no more and then talked while the fireflies lit up the lodge. Thanks to Ryan for hosting us, and to Shannon for making sure he dressed well. See yall in July!

Hannah: Lone Oak Barn Bridal Portraits

HannahSocialBridals-1

We just wrapped up photographing Hannah & Charlie‘s Wedding this weekend, so now we can share her fantastic bridal portraits from Lone Oak Barn. Lone Oak Barn is one of our favorite venues so we had to work hard to show off all of it’s potential. The wind had a mind of it’s own and presented us with 25 mph winds for the duration of the shoot. We started off inside to keep Hannah’s long locks in decent shape before we ventured outside to see what drama we could add with the wind. We ended the session with lensbaby 35 for some crazy light bending in the courtyard at blue hour. We hope you enjoy, and keep watching for their wedding post too, a guitar playing-singing groom?

John & Shetal: Red Corral Ranch Wedding in Wimberley

JohnShetalSocial-1

John & Shetal’s fusion wedding from Red Corral Ranch left me at a loss for words. Do I start by talking about the peacocks roaming the tranquil property of Red Corral Ranch in Wimberley? Should I tell you about the food? Salt Lick barbecue and Taj Palace dhosas kept our bellies full. We could write a whole article just on Shetal’s outfits for the weekend. The part that I found most amazing though is John & Shetal’s nuclear fusion of energy that emanates the closer they get to each other.

A first from this wedding that made me take notice was the blending of the traditional Hindi ceremony with a Franciscan Friar. The ancient traditions blending into one is a perfect metaphor for John & Shetal’s wedding. The traditions and cultures of their ancestors providing a launchpad for John & Shetal’s soaring future.

A big thanks to Blueprint Events for all the behind the scenes work they put in to make this a spectacular event. And a tip of the hat to Singar Studios for their continued excellence in hair, makeup and henna. A wedding this size is a team effort and we thank you and all the vendors who came together to make it happen flawlessly.

Scott: Swimming Senior Portraits

ScottSwimmingSocial-1

Scott presented us with a challenge to photograph his senior portraits underwater. Challenge: Accepted! We have tried to setup a Senior Experience like this for 3 years now so we were excited and nervous at the start of this session. Years of expectations and visions of the final photographs have been dancing in our heads for a while now. The actual shoot did not take place in our head though, for that we headed out to South Austin to the pool where Scott trains, the Austin Aquatics and Sport Academy run by Olympian Brendan Hansen.

Andrew and I divided up the shoot to maximize our limited pool time. Andrew took our underwater housing and photographed Scott from below the surface while I wrangled lights and concentrated on the above the surface photographs. We both played with strong orange/blue color combinations to mimic a strong sunset and cool tones of the water. Scott was a trooper and swam hard in 10 meter bursts for about a 1000 repetitions. Andrew and I are both super thrilled with how these photographs turned out and we hope that you enjoy them too.

Looking forward to following Scott’s progress as he heads up to Michigan to swim in college.

Let us know how we can photograph your Senior Experience!

Madison & Tom: Chateau Bellevue Wedding

MadisonTomSocial-6

We talk about firsts when talking about weddings that we photograph. We believe that every wedding has something new to see and an unique “first”. Madison and Tom continue that belief in firsts for us. The first bride we have seen use her mother and sisters sorority pins as something borrowed attached to her bouquet. The first exit we have seen that instead of sparklers or lights utilized paper airplanes. Madison is also the first bride we thought was going to spontaneously combust with happiness as she said “I do” to her about to be husband Tom. Madison radiated her joy throughout the evening. Friends and family reflected the glow as a perfect Austin Sunday evening sunset descended upon the happy newlyweds.

Thanks to Chateau Bellevue for being great hosts as always, and thanks to Madison and Tom for having us at their wedding along with their willingness to fly for the engagement photos.

Kaitlyn: Liberty Hill Senior Portraits

KaitAFWeb

Excited excited to be sharing the first set of Kaitlyn’s Senior Portraits from Antebellum Oaks. We have big plans for parts 2 and maybe 3 if the Texas weather ever cooperates. Kaitlyn wanted something different from the norm and knew that we could deliver on her ideas that started with classic portraits and ended with an antebellum picnic reading classic books.

Kaitlyn is exactly the type of client we love, she has stalked our website for years now, knew all the crazy things we have done in the past and we are planning to top a few of those concepts for parts 2 and 3. She rides a horse named Dancing in the Rain if that gives you an idea of where we are headed.

Special Thanks to Adrian with Revelry Beauty for the three looks and a huge thanks to Antebellum Oaks for being gracious hosts!

Noah & Vanessa: Laughing Around Austin Engagements

Austin Engagement Laughing #-1

Laughing around Austin is seriously all we did for Noah & Vanessa’s engagement session. Our goal was to hit up fun spots around Austin while staying away from the cliche spots (I am looking at you Jo’s Coffee Shop). We managed to get 5 locations in 3 hours and only had to slide through one chain link fence to get our East Austin Skyline photographs. We all were laughing the entire shoot, even when I broke one of my flash tubes, or kept losing my balance. Vanessa and her infectious Jennifer Garner smile kept us all in good spirits. Noah you have your hands full with that one I tell ya. Truly one of the nights when I didn’t want to stop shooting, if only to stop and have a beer and hang out with this super fun couple.

We are excitedly looking forward to their August wedding with reception at Brazos Hall, all planned by one of our fave event teams, 11:11 Events.

Michelle & Todd: Union on Eighth Wedding in Georgetown

Union on 8th Wedding -2

What a way to close out 2014! I know it seems like we posted only the pictures of Michelle and Todd smiling, happy and looking lovingly at each other, but all 2000 photos are like this! As always we believe that weddings are a day of firsts, first kiss, first look, first night as a married couple. Here are some of the firsts we observed at this last wedding of 2014.

First reception we have seen where an octogenarian led the dance floor. I believe she is 83 and she had more fun than just about anyone. I hope to dance with that much enthusiasm when I am 38 in two years! This was also the first wedding where Andrew tested out his tintype process. There will be more advancements in this process as it grows and changes materials but we think it’s a cool analog memento of the wedding day. The other big first was this was our first time photographing at the super cool Union on 8th wedding venue. I remember seeing the building as a mechanic’s garage 4 years ago on a photowalk and thinking it would be an interesting place to photograph, now with the renovations and the conversion to an event venue, wow, a newly refurbished place with an old vibe. Love it.

As always thanks to 11:11 Events for planning and coordinating, you make our days easy.

Big group hug to Michelle & Todd on their nuptials. We loved being there to document your wedding day (and your awesome engagements) and we love the way yall laugh with each other. Keep on laughing

Lauren & Joe: Bella Springs Wedding in Boerne, Texas

ZearfossSocial-23

Beautiful fall wedding in the Texas Hill Country at Bella Springs in Boerne featuring the softball playing Lauren and the newly shackled Joe (see the groom’s cake?). We love our couples who have fun and don’t take themselves too seriously. Lauren was spotted laughing, smiling and showing her gamut of facial expressions. Joe’s highpoint, besides Lauren saying yes, was the custom built mini-bike getaway vehicle. In the ring photo below take note of the family built custom inset crosses the rings rest upon, just one example of the family support this couple will enjoy.

Make sure and scroll down to the sunset photos, they are some of our favorites. And the coming soon trailer is a hoot too, find out who forgot the rings!

Jared & Megan: Inn at Wild Rose Hall Wedding in Dripping Springs

CarsonSocial#-1

Happy Sunday Wedding Dance Party. Jared and Megan’s wedding was the perfect expression of two fabulous people coming together as one. The positive energy, the lightness in the mood, the smiles on guests faces are all the aspects that I will take away from this wedding. The venue, http://www.theinnatwildrosehall.com/, provided a fantastic backdrop to the day with the little touches here and there, the nooks and quirks that provided the Austin in the Hill Country vibe. The day went off without a hitch thanks to the planning and preparation of 11:11 Events. The floral designs from Sixpence Floral tied in so well to the theme and feel of the day.

Let’s talk about some of the firsts as we like to do because we believe every wedding has something we have never seen before. This was the first and probably only wedding in the near future that we photographed using the medium format Pentax 645z. The files took a bit longer to process but wow the detail in the photographs is just astounding. This was important to us because Jared’s father is a photographer from Georgia and I wanted to have something special for their day as a nod to his efforts.

Our favorite little moment occured when a three old guests took the mic during the reception and belted out Let It Go from Frozen. The entire crowd cheered her on, pretty neat few minutes.

Make sure and scroll to the bottom to see what our Coming Soon trailer for their wedding film and get a sense of what all the dancing was like!
